Matthew Fetzer Foundation is committed to helping children with cancer and their families.
The Matthew Fetzer Foundation hosts parties at Children hospitals and the Hematology Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Units. We provide toys, cards gift, parents gifts, pajamas, food and much more. We also provide emotional and financial support.
Matthew Fetzer Foundation also helps local children battling cancer.
We do this in the loving memory of Matthew Fetzer.
Our son Matthew was diagnosed with cancer April 1998, just shy of his 3rd birthday.
Matthew bravely battled cancer for the next 7 years.
He lived his young life in and out of the hospital, not able to attend much school or seeing friends.
Matthew relapsed several times. Eventually getting a bone marrow transplant and then unfortunately relapsing again.
Matthew fought as hard as he could. He wanted to live, but his little body just couldn't do it, he passed away April 7th 2005, just shy of his 11th birthday.
Matthew had always told us that when he was better, he wants to start a toy drive for children in the hospital.
Matthew never got the opportunity. In his memory we started collecting toys immediately.
We received an overwhelming amount of toys and were able to deliver toys to several hospitals, several times!!!
And we knew then we were going to fulfill Matthew wish forever!!!
It was going to be a labor of love.
The Matthew Fetzer Foundation became an official 501-c3 in March of 2009.
Now collecting toys, pajamas, gift cards, all new items for the children and their families.
We have helped a family get a new refrigerator. And we were lucky enough to be able to facilitate a very generous friend of ours, donating a car to a family of a child with cancer!
We have been able to help thousands of children with cancer.
We are truly touched by all of their lives. And it is our honor to met them all.
We are grateful by the outpouring of support we have received from our community and the surrounding communities.
It is not easy doing this without Matthew. We had always hoped to be running Matthew's Foundation with him. But since we can't, we will continue doing it for him!
We thank everyone who has supported our family and the Matthew Fetzer Foundation.
Together we will fulfill Matthews wish.
And as always we love and miss you Matthew.
